Humana (NYSE: HUM) reported third-quarter 2026 results before the open on Friday, November 6, 2026, and the stock stayed nearly flat in early premarket trading after a beat on the seasonal adjusted loss and a raise to the full-year adjusted EPS floor. Shares closed Thursday at $411.79, per StockMarketWatch. The same premarket page showed prints near $410.14 as of about 6:30 AM ET, about 0.4% below that cash close. Estimize flagged the print shortly after the release with adjusted EPS of -$0.70 and revenue near $41.16 billion.

A Seasonal Loss That Still Cleared the Street Bar

Humana's Investor Relations release (also carried on Business Wire) put third-quarter GAAP diluted EPS at $1.33 and adjusted loss per share at $0.70. GAAP revenue was $41.155 billion, up from $32.649 billion a year earlier. The Insurance segment GAAP benefit ratio was 93.7%, which the company said was favorable to its own guidance of "slightly above 94 percent." Year-to-date GAAP EPS was $16.84 and adjusted EPS was $17.17.

MarketBeat had put Street consensus near a $1.00 adjusted loss and about $40.87 billion of revenue into the report, and StockMarketWatch listed an estimate near -$1.03. An adjusted loss of $0.70 against that roughly $1.00 bar is a clear beat on the operating line investors watch for Medicare Advantage cost trends. CEO Jim Rechtin said in the release that Humana was delivering for members and patients and was increasingly driving financial and operating performance toward being ahead of its plan.

Benefit Ratio and Membership Footprints

The 93.7% Insurance benefit ratio is the figure that mattered most into this print. Humana had guided the third-quarter ratio to slightly above 94% after adding a large cohort of individual Medicare Advantage members earlier in 2026, so landing 30 basis points better than that "slightly above 94%" language is the operating win behind the EPS beat. The release also flagged year-to-date CenterWell Senior Primary Care patient growth of 146,800, or 30%, and year-to-date Medicaid membership growth of 103,600, or 7%, driven largely by integrated Duals programs in Michigan, Illinois, and South Carolina. A recently announced joint venture with BlackRock replaced prior clinic joint ventures with Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.

GAAP EPS of $1.33 includes a large non-cash put/call valuation gain tied to those primary-care partnership interests. The company removes that item, along with amortization, value-creation charges, and other adjustments, when it presents the adjusted $0.70 loss. Traders reading the print need that split: the benefit-ratio and adjusted-EPS story is the Medicare cost read, while the GAAP line is inflated by the partnership fair-value mark.

Fifty Cents Added to the Full-Year Floor

Full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance moved to "at least $9.50" from "at least $9.00," and GAAP EPS guidance moved to "at least $15.09" from "at least $6.52." TipRanks / The Fly noted the new adjusted floor against a FY26 consensus near $9.16. The company said the adjusted outlook still anticipates a year-over-year decline because of the Star Ratings headwind for Bonus Year 2026, net of mitigation. Prepared management remarks were posted ahead of an 8:00 AM ET question-and-answer session.

A fifty-cent raise to an "at least" floor after a third-quarter loss that still beat the Street is the kind of guide move that can reprice longer-dated calls even when the cash session has not yet opened. It does not remove the Stars and medical-cost overhang the company itself flags in the outlook language.

Flat Premarket Inside a Six-Percent Weekly Band

OptionSlam tracked a roughly 6.19% implied move on the November 6 weekly straddle and about 10.24% on the November 20 monthly into the report, with the monthly straddle marked near $42.15 against an about $411.79 reference. Global Traders Academy had earlier put a November 6 at-the-money straddle near $35.55, or roughly 8.5%, when the stock was closer to $417. Measured from Thursday's $411.79 close, a 6.2% weekly band puts the break-evens near about $386 and $437. A premarket print near $410.14 is only about 0.4% below the cash close and sits deep inside that weekly band, and well inside the roughly 10% November monthly band.

Delayed Cboe quotes are a reference for Friday's open rather than fills: equity options do not trade until 9:30 AM ET, premarket stock prints can fade or extend, and spreads can widen around an event open. When a name barely moves after a beat-and-raise and the weekly chain had collected roughly 6% of event premium, short straddles and iron condors that sold that weekly move are so far holding their edge into the open, while long straddles that needed a clean break of the band are underwater on the stock leg alone.
