Record Net Sales, Adjusted EPS Unchanged Versus the Street
Monster's GlobeNewswire release put net sales at $2.56 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, up 16.7% from $2.20 billion a year earlier. Net income rose 8.4% to $568.4 million. Diluted EPS was $0.29, up 7.8%, and adjusted diluted EPS was $0.30, up 8.5%. Operating income rose 6.4% to $718.7 million. Investing.com put Street consensus near $0.30 of EPS and about $2.49 billion of revenue, so the quarter matched on earnings and cleared sales.
The Monster Energy Drinks segment rose 17.1% to $2.37 billion. Strategic Brands rose 19.8% to $156.4 million. Alcohol Brands fell 13.6% to $28.5 million. Gross margin slipped to 54.7% from 55.7%, which the company tied to aluminum can costs, geographical sales mix, and freight-in, partly offset by pricing. Distribution expenses rose to 4.5% of sales from 3.8% on freight and fuel.
International Crosses Nearly Half of Sales
Net sales to customers outside the United States rose 28.1% to $1.20 billion, or about 47% of total net sales, up from 43% a year earlier. CEO Hilton Schlosberg highlighted LATAM, where net sales rose 48.8% in dollars, led by Brazil, and pointed to higher marketing spend across social, digital, and media platforms plus new product launches across Monster Energy, Java Monster, Mother, and FLRT lines. During the quarter the company also bought back about 2.3 million shares for roughly $100.0 million, leaving about $800.0 million authorized as of November 4, 2026.
A record top line with a flat EPS print versus consensus and a softer gross margin is a quieter reaction setup than the double-digit gaps elsewhere on Thursday's tape: the numbers cleared, but the mix and cost lines left less room for a celebration gap.
Four Percent After Hours Inside a Seven-Percent Monthly Move
OptionSlam tracked a roughly 7.22% implied move on the November 20 monthly straddle into the report. Earnings Watcher listed MNST among Thursday's after-close names with an implied move near ±7.1%. An after-hours print near $45.79 is about 4.3% below Thursday's $47.83 close and still inside those prepaid ranges; the extended-hours low near $44.02 would be closer to an 8% gap and would sit nearer the monthly lower break-even. Delayed Cboe quotes remain a reference for Friday's open: MNST options are liquid relative to many Thursday reporters, but after-hours stock prints can still fade or extend, and equity options do not trade until 9:30 AM ET.
A Quiet Gap on a Loud Earnings Night
When a defensive growth name gaps lower by about 4% to 5% after matching EPS and beating sales, short straddles and iron condors that collected the roughly 7% event premium are under less directional pressure than names that cleared their bands by double digits. Long puts that needed a full break of the monthly lower break-even are only partially paid on a 4.3% print, and they still face IV crush if Friday's open stabilizes inside the prepaid range. Call debit spreads that needed a clean beat-and-rally face a tape that sold a record quarter anyway. Our implied volatility guide covers post-event IV behavior, and the OCC options disclosure document explains the risks of standardized options, including assignment.
